75-year anniversary of the extermination of Riga Ghetto


We would like to invite you to participate in commemorative events dedicated to 75-year anniversary of the extermination of Riga Ghetto.

Tuesday, November 29

12:00 Commemorative ceremony on the Rumbula memorial.

Arranged by Counsel of Jewish communities of Latvia.

Bus leaves from Skolas street 6 at 10:45 am.

President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis, Speaker of the Saeima Inara Murniece, other government officials, diplomatic corps, non-government organizations and members of Jewish community will participate in the event.

15:00 Museum “Jews in Latvia” (Skolas street 6).

Opening of a new Holocaust exhibition.

The author of the exposition - the founder and curator of the museum, ex-prisoner of the Riga Ghetto and concentration camps Margers Vestermanis.

Wednesday, November 30

14:00 Museum of the Occupation of Latvia (Raina bulv.7)

“Never-ending echo”

Readings of fragments of diaries written during the years of holocaust.

Excursions around the museum are available for groups and individually (upon the request).

18:00 Lighting the candles on a Monument of Freedom in memory of Jews who perished in Rumbula (social initiative).

19:00-20:00 Memorial of ┼Żanis Lipke (Mazais Balasta dambis 9)

Performance of jazz-percussionist Arkady Gotesmann (Lithuania).

“Honest story about Gotesmann- Man of God”

20:00-20:30 Conversation with the artist about the Gotesman’s family during the holocaust.
