Seminar for teachers “Latvian Jewish heritage in the teaching process”
The Riga Jewish Community and the Museum "Jews in Latvia" in cooperation with the Society of History and Social Sciences Teachers are organizing a continuing education seminar for teachers "Latvian Jewish Heritage in the Teaching Process".
The seminar will address issues related to the methodology of teaching the culture and history of Jews and other minorities in schools and other educational institutions, as well as the integration of this material in various subjects.
The seminar will take place on August 25, 2020 in Riga, Skolas Street 6, Riga Jewish Community House.

10.00 – 11.10 Excursion in the permanent exposition of the museum. Getting acquainted with the traveling exhibition “For Your Nation and Your Country: Pauls Mincs, Latvian statesman”
The exhibition is dedicated to the centenary of the Latvian state, thus reflecting the life of the historical significant figures of Latvia, lawyer and politician Pauls Mincs and his family and their contribution to the fraud of the Latvian state. The exhibition is available for placement in schools.
11.15 – 12.00 Lecture by Dr. Gints Apals “Minorities from the Perspective of Latvian Intellectuals in the 19th-20th Centuries”
12.00 – 13.00 Discussion on the integration of the minority component in the learning process
13.00 – 13.30 Coffee break
13.30 – 15.00 Excursion: Jewish heritage in the center of Riga and in the Art Nouveau quarter
