Lecture by Dr. Gints Apals “Minorities from the Perspective of Latvian Intellectuals in the 19th-20th Centuries”
On August 25, from 11.15 to 12.00 in the Riga Jewish Community House, Skolas Street 6, will be held lecture by Dr. Gints Apals “Minorities from the Perspective of Latvian Intellectuals in the 19th-20th Centuries”.
In the lecture, the historian will pay attention to the dynamics of interrelations between ethnocultural groups in the period from 1840 to 1940, when the concept of minorities was still being formulated in the territory of Latvia.
Dr. hist. Gints Apals is a historian and diplomat with experience in research, in the Latvian Foreign Service and in international organizations.
The event is planned as part of the continuing education seminar for teachers “Latvian Jewish Heritage in the Learning Process” organized by the Riga Jewish Community and the Museum “Jews in Latvia” in cooperation with the Association of Teachers of History and Social Sciences.
