Further education seminar “From Antisemitism to Discrimination: Challenges in Contemporary Education”

The “Jews in Latvia” Museum, in collaboration with the Žanis Lipke Memorial and the State Agency for Education Development, invites you to a continuing education seminar titled “From Antisemitism to Discrimination: Challenges in Contemporary Education.”

The seminar will take place as part of the UNESCO project “Countering Antisemitism in Education,” and will cover topics identified as relevant in Latvia in this field, primarily conspiracy theories and their connection to xenophobia and discrimination, Holocaust denial, and the challenges of interpreting history in the digital age, as well as the identification and prevention of problematic issues. The seminar sessions will be led by experts in history, sociology, and pedagogy from Latvia and abroad (such as Poland and the United Kingdom).

We invite teachers of history, social sciences, and cultural studies, as well as museum educators and other education professionals, to participate.

Educational institution staff will be able to receive certificates for participating in the seminar.

Participation is free of charge. Free lunch will be provided on both days of the seminar. Accommodation in Riga, in a double room at a hotel, will be provided on November 16 (one night).

To participate in the seminar, please register by filling out the registration form by November 13: https://tinyurl.com/2th8yu3u .

The seminar is supported by UNESCO, the Latvian Jewish Community Restitution Fund, and the Riga City Council.
