Traveling Festival “Vadātājs”. Museum Tour Stop 2 in Riga
After touring more than 26 Latvian cultural sites and a few years of hiatus, the traveling festival “Vadātājs” is going on a museum tour with a special program to discover Latvian museums not only as keepers of history, but also as concert venues. One of the stops is our museum “Jews in Latvia”.
The event will take place in Riga, Skolas Street, 6, on Saturday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m.
Topic – “National and supranational in culture”
Program:
- Talk show “Vadātājs krustcelēs”, in which Edgars Šubrovskis and Oskars Jansons, balancing on slippery topics, will ask Ilya Lensky, director of museum “Jews in Latvia”, about the advantages and disadvantages of national and supranational identity.
- Latvian writer Kārlis Vērdiņš will offer an overview of how the concept of “national” has been mastered or lost in the creative agony of domestic and foreign writers.
- Stand-up comedian Jānis Kreičmanis will tell tasteful and tasteless jokes.
- At the end of the event – the folk rock band “Juuk”, whose original music and translations will allow an attentive listener to get lost in the influences of both Latvian and foreign music.
Before the concert, there will be an opportunity to see the museum on your own or as part of a tour. Tours will take place at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
